Like with Mystic Knight, they only have a normal amount of skill when using a staff. Magick Archers have stats similar to a Mage, but a bit more ST and DEF and less MAG. WebMagick Archer does have poor stat growth in terms of damage, but it does have good growth in physical and magic defense. As such your 'tankiness' does improve when you level up as a Magick Archer. If you're thinking of going to Bitterblack Isle, it's a good idea to still get a level of 5-10 extra in Sorcerer for the damage.
